SnackFever – July 2015 Review & Coupon

Snack Fever is the only US based snack box that’s specifically for Korean style snacks (as of this post, anyway). To their credit, this arrived about a month ago but it being me, it sort of just sat there, cold and alone, until I got to it. Today is that day.

Mini 12$ – Original 20$ – Free US Shipping!

Ships Late in Month via USPS
Use code NEW2015 for 4$ off

got a pretty big facelift since their debut in June; they now sport a glossy red box, but the July box still featured the random assortment of snacks – August on, everyone gets the same snacks (and hopefully an info card, I’m flying blind here). As of the August box they also have a newer, smaller offering, the Mini, which runs 12$ per month with free shipping. The differences are pretty much in the size; the Mini boasts a pound or less of snacks while the Original has around 2lbs. This does ship worldwide but for an increased fee. So far the boxes have all contained a drink as well. The original sends at least 10 full size snacks with a few samplers for good measure.

Because there is no info card (boxes were random until the August box) I’ll be probably butchering Korean culture with my very limited/non-existent knowledge of these snacks. Onward, to the review!

Vitamin C Lemon Tablets
The only reason I actually know what these are is because SnackFever mentioned it on their Instagram; these are technically vitamins, not exactly candy, though they taste like lemonade in a wafer.

Larva Fruit Strip
Terrified worms aside, this is a fun fruit strip. It’s green apple flavored with a hit of a spice (nutmeg, rosemary?)

Choco Puff Chocolate Crunch Bar
These are a cross between Japan’s “Big Bar” candies and an actual cocoa puff. It’s kind of weirdly uncanny; these are chocolate flavored puffs but they have an underlying corn flavor to them.

Acacia Floral Chewing Gum
omg no

Crackers
I know these are rice crackers with a sweet glaze on top and they’re crispy and puffy.

Hard Candies
Lychee hard candies!

Lotte Sweet Biscuit Butter Coconut Wafers
Hrnnnnnnnnngggg…. I love coconut anything but you put them together with butter and cookies and HELL YES. These have a good toasted coconut flavoring to them with a hit of citrus, maybe limes?

Lotte Margaret Cookies
Basically just butter cookies, if you’ve ever had Lorna Doone cookies, you’ve had these.

Lotte Kancho Chocolate Biscuits
These taste exactly like their Japanese counterpart, the Koala biscuits. They’re a hard cookie with rich chocolate filling that has the consistency of frosting. There wasn’t the best ratio to chocolate to cookie here but these types of biscuits never have them.

Lotte Pepero
Pepero is basically reversed pocky, with the frosting inside and the cookie uncovered outside. The chocolate even tastes the same though the cookie is more buttery.

Ginggrae Melon Flavored Milk Drink
This was in response to the Banana flavored drink found in June’s box. Melon milkshakes for all!

Cheese and Choco-Pick
omg no

Pulumone Non-Fried Raymin Noodle (Crab Flavor)
One this I really like about this box is that you get actual food along with snacks, like dinner or lunch time fare. These are pretty much crab flavor Ramen noodles.

Cosmos Banana Corn
Ever had Tohato caramel corn? That’s this but in banana flavor.

While the box wasn’t nearly as large as their June offering, this did have a very good range of items, mostly sweet (woohoo!), a drink, and a dinnery style item. There were several things I wasn’t too privy to trying, such as the Acacia gum and the Cheese dipper, but there were also some hits, such as those butter coconut cookies. The August box should be here anytime too, so I’m looking forward to seeing what they send out next.

If you’re interested in SnackFever, the Mini is 12$, and the Original is 20$ (this review was of the original), and you can . Use NEW2015 for 4$ off too – may not apply to the mini.

  1. Pepero isn’t always that “inside out” style- usually it’s exactly the same as pocky. I liked this style a lot better though- the chocolate-to-stick ratio was more satisfactory.

(have you heard of Pepero Day? Not the most exciting of holidays, but still fun!)

    1. Ah yeah I prefer Pepero to Pocky too, the cookie/biscuit just tastes much better and buttery :D

I haven’t, I will definitely look that up though!
