Loot Crate – May 2017 Review + Coupon

Loot Crate is a monthly geek subscription box that often includes figurines, collectibles, and T-shirts.  It costs $13.95 + $6 shipping per month, with discounts for longer subscriptions.  Each month has a different theme.  Every month, it comes in a black box with the Loot Crate logo that can be turned inside out and folded into something related to the theme.  The size varies depending on what’s in the box.  Each month, they send out a survey asking subscribers to rate each item and provide suggestions for future boxes.  They also release digital content each month related to the theme, such as a mini-game, puzzle, or trivia.

This is a review of May’s Loot Crate.

Each box includes a magazine that includes descriptions of all of the items, as well as interviews with the Loot Crate staff and other things.

Everything in this month’s Loot Crate.  This month’s theme is Guardians.  This month’s Loot Crate includes items from Guardians of the Galaxy, Destiny, Star Wars, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and The Goonies.

Each month’s box can be turned into something related to the theme.  This one required some effort even with the instructions.  It became this Ghost from Destiny.  (You might have noticed the perforations on the first picture where you have to remove pieces to make the Ghost.)

Timed Exclusive Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Rocket & Groot Q-Fig – I received this month’s crate the day before I went to see GOTG 2 actually! I hated Yondu in the first movie, but apparently, I cried my eyes out for the last 10mins of the 2nd movie! (Sorry for the spoiler if you haven’t seen the movie yet.) I love Guardians of the Galaxy and especially Groot, and I also collect vinyl figures, so this is a great item for me.

Exclusive The Goonies T-Shirt – I don’t know much about The Goonies, and as T-shirts go this one is pretty average.

Loot Crate Edition Star Wars Adult Coloring Book and Colored Pencils – Yaaay an adult coloring book! I never cared about Star Wars too much, but it has been growing on me lately. I blame last month’s Xbox free game!

Exclusive Destiny Patches – These patches look pretty cool. Some of my friends on Xbox have been urging me to get Destiny, and now I have these patches. Maybe it’s finally time?

This Month’s Pin – This pin “unlocks” an Avatar: The Last Airbender digital comic. One of the coolest #lootpins from Lootcrate!

Overall, I’m liking this month’s Lootcrate curation. My favorite item is definitely the GOTG2 Q-Fig!
