Time Crate – Executive Crate August 2016 Review

Time Crate is a new monthly watch subscription box.  It costs $30/month, including shipping, within the US ($45/month internationally) and includes one watch.  Use the coupon code BEEJU5 to save $5 on your first month!  It can also be used to get $5 off of a watch in their store.

Each month, you can choose from among the available colors and styles or let them choose one for you.  Currently, they only offer the Executive crate, which focuses on “sleek, simple, luxury styled timepieces”.  They will soon introduce the Explorer crate, which will provide “rugged timepieces that travel with you through the thick and the thin”.

This is a review of August’s Executive crate.

They include some motivational quotes and tips in the box.

This month, they sent The Minimalists Sidekick.  It comes in three colors; I got the white one, which is my favorite out of the three.

Here’s the watch out of its box.  I really love the relative sizes of the strap and watch face.  It’s actually a pretty large face, which you can probably tell more easily from the photo below on my wrist.  I love watches with large faces btw.

Close-up of the face.  I really like that its design is “minimalist”, but it’s still easy to tell the time.  I like having all 12 numbers on the dial.  Maybe it’s weird, but I like that the ticking sound is really loud for a watch.  The face is made of glass and the back is stainless steel.  The watch is clearly well-made, and I love that it’s water resistant.

The strap is made from genuine leather.  It’s soft and very comfortable.  It has 7 holes making the watch very adjustable.

Here it is on my wrist.

Overall, I really like this month’s selection from Time Crate.  I really like how the watch looks and also the fit.  I think it’s definitely a watch that you can match with pretty much everything in your wardrobe.  At $30 ($25 with the discount), it’s not a bad price for a watch of decent quality, plus free shipping to your door.
