Snack Sack – August 2015 Review & Coupon

Snack Sack is a newer all-natural snack subscription.

SnackSack works a little differently than other all-natural subscriptions. Each month you get at least 10 different snacks, both full and snack sizes, both sweet and savory. All the items are marked as to whether or not they’re gluten free, vegan, and non-gmo too, which is great for those of you with specific food tastes or allergies. This box is also one of the cheaper snack options – all natural/organic snacks are usually stupidly expensive. The sweet is on the top of the box while the chips/savory items are in a burlap sack that comes with every box (hence, “Snack Sack”), and there’s also coupons.

*Sidenote: This shipped out mid-August, I’m just very far behind.

Each box comes with an info card that describes the items and their specific type – blue is non-GMO, orange is Gluten Free and green is Vegan. Helpful, so you don’t have to search the packaging.

Apple Cinnamon Banana Bites
I like apple. I like banana. I like cinnamon. Together though… they’re just weirdly chewy. I can’t say these win – you may as well just go make a fruit salad.

YummySnack Pizza Chips
Normally I don’t care for these little snack chips because they’re usually filled with massive amounts of sharp cheddar or parmesan, but these are okay. Not worthy of a repurchase, but okay. They have a tomato flavor to them plus herbs, though the cheese can be overpowering at times. It’s very crispy, honestly it tastes like that cheese that often gets stuck to the pizza pan/box.

Sol Simple Solar Dried Mangos
I… I think I just discovered that I really don’t like mangoes. These have a strange texture to them (think chewing on leather), and just… no. D:

Hatch Green Chile Sunflower Seeds
I’ve always been one of those people that’s found Sunflowers to be a bit eerie. I also never really got how to eat these, you suck the peel off or something?

Tropikale Veggie-Go’s
NO I HATE KALE. can you even imagine – Mango, Kiwi, Kale, Pumpkin, Apples and Guava? Who the hell approved that one on the product development line? Jesus. “All of these things have benefits, let’s put them together!” SOME THINGS ARE NOT MEANT TO GO TOGETHER.

ThisBarSavesLives Blueberry Pistachio Bar
We got this before (I can’t remember if it was this box or UrthBox), but this bar was always alright. It’s sweet, packed with the tart berries. No complaints.

That’s It Bars – Apple and Pineapple
Just these two ingredients. Honestly the texture is more like baby food meets protein bar. Flavor is okay. Texture needs work.

Dark Chocolate Chia Bar
Ehhhhh…. I like the dark chocolate aspect, it’s very rich, but there’s not that much of it, and the chia feels like I’m chomping on bird seed. Again, good flavor, bad texture.

Citrus Splash Gummies
Yet another good flavor bad texture. Organic/All-Natural guumies are historically known for being so chewy that you burn calories, and these are no exception.

Quinoa Puffs – Aged Cheddar
Another textural issue… these look and feel like they should be your standard cheese puff, but they’re honestly very grainy. The texture isn’t light and airy as you’d expect from a cheese puff, they’re just… crunchy. Like, crunchy fried balls.

Cabo Flavored Tortilla Chips – Mango Chili Lime
Aight these are okay. They’re mild and thankfully you taste way more chili and lime than you do mangoes. They’re crispy, maybe a little too crunchy because they’re baked, but not bad.

BOPS – Sour Cream and Onion
Yay BOPS! I got these in another box and they’re honestly really, really delicious. They’re very crunchy with good flavoring – taste very similar to Lays, but baked (way better than baked Lays). Yum.

Mediterranean Snacks – Veggie Medley Straws
Vegetable flavored crisps. Quite non-descript.

I can’t say this was my favorite SnackSack, but honestly, with all of these snack boxes, it comes down to personal preference and taste. While these weren’t my favorite snacks they’ve sent, that doesn’t mean they weren’t excellent for the right person – I’m just not the right person. I do highly recommend this box if you like healthier snacks, or snacks without additives and more natural goodies.
