Starlooks LooksBook – September 2015 Review

The LooksBook from Starlooks is a newer offering from the Starlooks series of boxes that features new items each month.

Each month you get a custom “book” which features three different new release makeup items and an insert that describes the looks you can do. Each month is designed to be more “fashion forward,” as each is curated specifically to be current and up to date color and style wise. The sizes are all “Perfect Size,” meaning about a third of the full size items. The theme for September’s box is Revival.

Each LooksBook contains a fold out pamphlet that describes the colors and looks you can do.

Starlooks Perfect Size Mascara – Flora
I can’t exactly wear mascara but I’d definitely wear this if I could, because the color on it is gorgeous. Colored mascaras are pretty in as far as the seasons colors go, and this deep hunter green is definitely nice. The wand isn’t too bulky, either.

Starlooks Perfect Size Lipstick – Rawr
A deep, rosy pink. It seems a little “out of place,” as far as colors go as we’re getting into deeper tones for Fall, but the texture is what sings here. This glides on like pure butter, it’s so soft, and has great pigment. The color is just a tad bit “bold.”

Starlooks Perfect Size Eyeshadow – Agave
Cream to powder shadow compact featuring two deep colors, perfect for Fall. These remind me of a tropical rain forest, they’re so… Ferngullyish. Again I can’t wear eyeshadow (or eye products for that matter) due to a recurring eye injury, but if I could that left berry shade is right up my alley. Swatches below. The formula on these is very silky, with little fallout.

The colors in the bullets/pans don’t translate well when swatched (I think it’s lighting), but the shadow is a deep olive green and a classic rust, the lipstick is a rosy pink and the mascara really got lost in translation here but it’s a very deep hunter green.

You can better see the Hunter Green coloring on the top of the mascara wand here and in the earlier photo. It’s very subtle, but it’s deep. One of those colors that will surprise you for sure. As far as this Looksbook goes, aside from the lip color I felt it was very Fall appropriate. The colors were deep and rich, and echoed Earthy tones (a nod to the Revival theme). I only wish I could wear the mascara and eyeshadow, the mascara especially because of the color.
