Ipsy – July 2015 Review

I liked this month again. What happened to the Ipsy I love to hate?

Hoo boy, it’s fugly. It also smells like it’s been soaked in perfume for some reason. Ew.

Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics 2-in-1 Shadow/Liner
Not to be content with sending me simple eyeliner or shadow that I won’t use, Ipsy has deemed it appropriate to send me a 2-in-1 pencil! OH BOY!

At least it’s a pretty bronze color.

Be A Bombshell Cosmetics Lip Balm in French Kiss
Given BaB’s propensity to be a kinda garbage tier, I was pleasantly surprised by this lip balm. While the color is pretty much nonexistent on my lips, it’s at least decently moisturizing and is lacking in foul odors and discoloration. In my book, that’s a win!

Vasanti Cosmetics BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator
I got this exact cleanser in my Birchbox back in June. I liked it then, I still like it now. I’m still not going to run out and purchase it after I finish this sample though.

Octavio Molina Hair La Playa Salt Spray
I normally like products like this, but this one is just kinda mediocre at best. It didn’t really do much for my hair other than make it slightly sticky. There are better sea salt sprays out there.

AURORA Gel Effect Nail Polish in 4 Alarm Fire
I somehow managed to forget to take a picture of just the bottle itself. Oops? That being said, HOLY CRAP, IPSY SENT ME POLISH! This one is an absolutely gorgeous coral-pink shade that has an excellent dry time. The one downside is that it was a bit thin and streaky. I’m honestly just still in shock that I finally got nail polish.

Did I absolutely love anything I got this month? Nope. However, four out of the five products I got are ones that are usable to me. MORE MONTHS LIKE THIS, IPSY!

Beeju’s turn! As usual, I like the bags that D Lys hates. This refers to the bag itself and not the contents. I don’t know that I’d ever use this, but I actually dig it. Idk why. What’s happening. Help.

Jor’el Parker Signature Perfume
All signs point to me hating this roller ball, but I actually kind of really love it. It’s nothing like my all time favorite perfume (Lavanilla Vanilla Coconut), but it’s got a slightly sweet undertone that’s overshadowed by musk. Seriously, I should not like this at all.

CROWN Brush Tweezer
Tweezers. Metal Tweezers. At least it’s practical, no complaints.

Avene Cleansing Oil
I like nothing about the overly medicinal scent of this oil with an identity crisis. BOO.

Jelly Pong Pong 2-in-1
My only complaint about Jelly Pong Pong is the fact it’s been in like 900 boxes this Summer. I tend to like the brand, and this is a pretty color. Overexposure makes you out to be the new Bellapierre’, Jelly-Pong-Pong. Turn back now.

tarte Bronzer
I like the case, and the color is pretty, but I can’t use bronzer due to A) having zero skills for the thing, and B) not knowing wth I’m doing. As such, this is happily up for trade.

I’m fairly lukewarm about my bag. It’s “alright” by all standards, and since I got the tarte many people would think that instantly catapults it until elite status, but to me the best thing about it is the perfume. I really dig that perfume. I’m neutral to the tweezers cause yeah, they’re useful, I mean, you don’t just love tweezers, they’re not brushes after all. Big ‘ole nope to the cleansing oil. Here’s to August, ipsy.

  1. You should keep the bronzer and learn how to use bronzer. That is one of the very best ones ever. Contouring is stupid but sometimes it’s nice to add a little color.

    1. I should learn how to use bronzer. I can’t get over the random brown streaks on my face because I have zero cheek bones. Making fake cheekbones scares me.

  2. I agree that you should keep the bronzer to practice with! Although, if you really want to give it away or trade it, I put myself forward as a volunteer… ;)
I have tried to many perfumes that I should love and end up hating, or that I should dislike and end up adoring. I can’t figure out what it is that changes the same scent into something you either like or hate.

    1. I will gladly send it your way, I promise it will just sit there and be useless otherwise. I’d rather a little compact get some love.

I have several perfumes like that but it surprises me everytime. Like, I took a vacation to TN a few years ago and we stopped by a perfume store. I LOVED Rhianna’s Rogue in the store but when I got the 65$ bottle home, I absolutely hated it. I have no idea what happened there, it’s one of the greatest mysteries of my time.

  3. I still need to review July’s bag. Mine was so boring I cant even think of what to say about it! Your bag looks better. Do you go in and review your items?

People were getting heated on Reddit because they didn’t get the Tarte!

    1. I used to but I stopped, mostly because lazy, and mostly because the rewards just weren’t that great. :/
