Raw Spice Bar is a totally affordable fresh spice subscription service that has seriously expanded my culinary horizons.

Every month, they send three spice packets and recipes that revolve around a specific theme. This month, they chose flavor profiles based on holidays in Iceland.

Licorice Salt! This flavor was brand new to me, and now I’m a little addicted.

Since I’ve been drinking coffee like a Gilmore, and since temps in my area dropped to 20 below zero, I decided to make a Licorice Latte. I used soy instead of almond milk, and frothed the espresso and milk with my $3.00 IKEA frother, then topped the whole thing with Licorice Salt and Ohmygoodness!

This is my new favorite morning drink. Seriously, I had no idea that licorice salt could be so good!

I would also love to try these licorice chocolate almonds. I’m gonna need a lot more licorice salt.

My family loves gingerbread! I am absolutely going to use this spice mix in some gingerbread rolls this Sunday when I will have the whole day to knead, rest, read and bake.

I also think Gingerbread Granola sounds delightful, and it would be really easy to add this spice blend to my favorite vegan granola recipe. Hmmm. . . I might need more German Gingerbread spice, too!

The final Spice Blend this month was Quatre Epices, a blend of white peppercorn, cloves, nutmeg, ginger and allspice.

The recipes included were for Quatre Epices Cake and Honey Roast Pork, but since I bought at least one ton of carrots for Christmas guests, I decided I’d better use them up.

Raw Spice Bar has a ton of recipes on their blog, so I (pretty much) followed this one. These carrots were absolutely delicious, and my daughters and I ate the entire batch with our fingers.

I love that I was able to easily add a touch of gourmet to my daily coffee and baby carrots. If you’re interested in a subscription to Raw Spice Bar or you just want to peruse some fun recipes, click HERE. Use code freshspices to save 50% on your month.

Sarah

I live in Utah with my carnivorous husband, three swell daughters, and two semi-trained dogs at the base of some of the most beautiful mountains in the world. Sometimes I write for money, but usually I just play Candy Crush.

I am a vegan, homeschooling mom who might be a tad obsessed with subscription boxes. My infatuation is evidenced by my uncanny ability to recognize the sound of my mail carrier’s truck engine. I’d like to say don’t judge me, but if I were you, I’d judge me. I love vegan/eco-friendly, literary and thoughtfully curated boxes.
