Fangirl Monthly has released one spoiler for their Pokemon-themed November Box and two for their limited edition Studio Ghibli Box! They have also made an official announcement regarding content for future boxes.
The first spoiler for the Studio Ghibli Box is…
One handmade necklace by Ashli from @sekushibox designed exclusively for Fangirl Monthly! To maintain the surprise, they did not release a picture of the actual piece, but you can get an idea of Ashli’s style from the images above. Sekushi Box’s Etsy shop says they are two girls who wanted to see more pop culture items for girls, so they now hand-make their own “fashion-forward nerdwear”. I can definitely get behind that!
The second spoiler for the Studio Ghibli box is…
A sterling silver adjustable Totoro ring! This piece was actually custom designed by Fangirl Monthly for this box, so it’s exclusive to their brand. I love the subtle nod to Totoro’s ears – it’s a cute understated way to represent your fandom.
Finally, the spoiler for their November box is…
These cute Pikachu charms! They can be used as cell phone charms, zipper pulls, or key chains! Each box will contain one variation. How cute is the Pika-Eevee!?
You can order the Studio Ghibli limited edition box here for $45 plus $3.99 shipping within the US (higher shipping rates for international). It will ship out December 12th, and contain 8 – 10 jewelry and accessory items. This is not part of their monthly subscription service.
You can sign up for the Fangirl Monthly subscription box here for $18/month plus $3.99 shipping in the US (higher shipping rates for international). There’s still time to sign up for November’s Pokemon box, if you’re interested.
You can also read the review for their October Sailor Moon box here. I raised some concerns initially about the fact that these products are unlicensed and can be found on sites like AliExpress, but I think Fangirl Monthly is planning to improve upon that for future boxes. Starting with December, they have pledged to include at least one handmade item from a small business each month. I love this idea! Fandoms really connect people and create a wonderful network, so I’m happy to support fan artists who share my passion.
