Whew, I’m really late on my reviews lately. I have a bunch of July to do still and one June, though I hope to get caught up pretty soon. Long story very short, the last two months have been nothing short of a whirlwind.

Anywho, Loot Anime is one of the premier subscription boxes for Anime fans. The items are all officially licensed, many are exclusive, and the box usually contains a manga volume. Their partnership with Crunchyroll gets you 5$ off your subscription each month, assuming you also have a Crunchyroll sub. Each box also comes with a shirt and a phone charm.

Each month has a different theme, this one being “Squadron.” The squadron theme is relatively popular in Anime. There’s a loooot of Anime about wartime and combat. Each box comes with a big ass poster which features artwork on the opposite side. Honestly I enjoy the art but I with they’d include a smaller card sometimes.

GATE Multi-tool Carabiner
These tools are super useful to have for really anything, you just never know when you’ll need them.

The tool features a bottle opener, hex tool, paracord and PVC charm. I’ve not seen GATE myself, but the info card describes it thusly: “A mysterious gate appears in modern day Tokyo which allows monsters from a fantastical world attack the city.” Sounds interesting enough. It also vaguely reminds me of Digimon. (I probably just offended a slew of anime fans with that last sentence).

Each box comes with a tee that goes up to Men’s 3XL, this one being GATE themed. I really like the artwork and the distressed look of the logo. The shirt is super soft and lightweight too. Sometimes their shirts can be iffy depending on where they’re made – these aren’t Gildan! (That’s good!)

Assault Kingdom GUNDAM Figure
Years and years and years ago when Gundam Wing came out in the states, I used to buy Gundam model kits. I had one for each Gundam (Gundam’s are basically giant fighting mechas), that each pilot used, and I think I still have one unopened…

These kits have change a LOT since the early 2000’s though, I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to put the rest of this guy together. Used to be everything snapped together and the kits were huge with full color instructions and diagrams. This is as far as I got.

Gundam jazz hands.

Anti-Magic Academy Scarf
I thought this was a pennant or flag at first since you don’t normally see scarves with this type of “ending” on them. It’s unique, and also the colors of a rival high school so wearing it in my hometown would probably get me punched in the gut. #wetakeschoolsportswaytooseriously. Real talk tho, it’s very soft and long, and would be perfect for Winter. Personally I think it’s a little too heavy for Fall, but that varies depending on where you are I’m sure.

The info card describes this anime as such: “A misfit squad of failures that must work together to neutralize magical threats.”

I don’t remember giving anyone the authority to follow me around graduate school. :I

Arpeggio of Blue Steel Manga Vol. 1
There’s a loot anime exclusive cover variant. From Amazon:

It’s been seventeen long years since the Fleet of Fog―a mysterious, unmanned fleet of powerful vessels that appeared out of nowhere―took control of the oceans, barring humanity from traveling between continents or islands. During those years, people the world over have dreamed of a revolt that would let them take back the seas, but there’s been no hope―until now.

And the art is gorgeous, as always.

I really like Loot Anime, though this particular month wasn’t my favorite. Normally there’s at least one anime I’m experienced with that I can get really excited about, so these are newer territory for me. In a way, it’s a good thing because it means that I can get introduced to series that I may not otherwise 😀 I really like the shirt this month, that design is just neat. I do have August’s box now – these boxes are notorious for shipping on the very last day of the month – so expect that review shortly. It’s WONDERFUL.
